Village on Yarn is an alternative indie rock band made up of students from the University of the Pacific. They are currently at work on an EP and frequently play at stockton's Blackwater Cafe and the Empire Theater coffee shop. Before the recent addition of a drummer, Village on Yarn identified more with the new folk movement. Since expirementing with a set player, they have moved more in the indie rock direction. All of VOY's members are music majors and use the band as a way to experiment in other genres and styles. They hope to tour California colleges to promote their EP. Some influences include Radiohead, Eisley, Simon & Garfunkel, and the John Mayer Trio.
This is a video from their gig at the Voodoo Lounge in Downtown San Jose. It was somewhat of an awkward show since at the time they were still playing mostly folk and the groups that played prior to this video were almost all metal bands. But hey, a gig is a gig. .
